#65 Rest of the KL Trip
Saturday, 14 September 2013
Ha-ha, yes I know, not the wittiest of entry titles but it'll do. Like any other tourists, we visited the
Petronas Towers at
KLCC. Actually, we weren't like actively seeking out this place or anything, its just that the place happened to be walking distance from our hotel
AND we would have to walk pass the place anyway to travel around KL via public transport. Was back lit in the photo, hence everything is in black and white. See silhouette can already~
This is the 4 of us. who also happened to be room mates, chilling at Starbucks because the weather was
SO FUCKING HOT we had to hide in somewhere air conditioned before we burst into flames. It was the day we split up from the rest of the group because everyone woke up at different timings and the 4 of us wanted to use the pool before lunch. Quite a nice chill afternoon, cam-whoring, gossipping and people watching.
And this was the last day in KL, where for some reason, we decided to have Taiwanese food for lunch, ha-ha. Everyone was so hungry that when we got to the shopping centre
(forgot the name of the shopping centre), we just settled into the first place that we saw serving decent food. Food turned out to be really good; not sure if it was because we were all starving or because it was honestly of good quality. Realised that we are always starving before we have lunch, ha-ha. Simple explanation is that everyone is always hung over from the night before, so it takes a bit longer in the morning to get ready for the day and by the time we are done, our stomach juices are slowly dissolving the linings of our tummy already.
I guess this ends my 4 part post about my recent mini get away to KL. Hoping to travel again soon, it's nice to get out of the country every once in a while. I really want to go to London again one day, time to start saving up like crazy.
XOXO, T.

#64 KL Food Fare (Jalan Alor)
Friday, 13 September 2013
Right, so this is the third entry of my KL trip
(and the last one featuring food). This was our last meal in KL and we decided to go all out and order like mad, which ended up being quite a bad idea because we were already running low on cash. It was fortunate that we had enough to pay for the meal. I don't want to imagine what would have happened if we didn't have enough cash...
That said, the food was really awesome and affordable. It came up to be about 30 ringgit per person? And given the weak Malaysian exchange rate at the moment, that was like what, S$12? Super worth it for the amount we ate and the quality of the food. My favourite of the night has got to be the
Clams (or 'lala') in Superior Broth. Yeah that's right, it ain't just broth, it's
SUPERIOR broth, LOL. The
Hot Plate Tofu and
Steamed Fish were top notch as well
(not that the rest of the food was bad, these are just my favourites of the night). In fact, the fish kind of brought back memories of when the few of us were in Bangkok's chinatown having dinner during May 2012 :)
I'm super thankful that I didn't put on any weight after the trip. It's a miracle really, given the amount and frequency in which we put food into our mouth. I'm guessing all the walking around helped burn off quite a bit of the calories. Three cheers for low impact cardio activity! Hoping to keep my weight down or maybe even shed a few more kilogrammes. But seriously, just looking at the photos in this entry makes me feel like I've gained 2kg, ha-ha. Only while on holiday la hor, only while on holiday.
XOXO, T.

#59 KL Food Fare (Petaling Jaya)
Thursday, 5 September 2013
Oh hi, so this is part two of my KL trip that I went with a few friends towards the end of August. In this entry, I'll be sharing with you guys pictures of food that we had over at
Petaling Jaya. If I'm not wrong, it's like the
Chinatown of KL? LOL, but don't take my word for it. I didn't do any research or anything, this was just based on pure observation and what my friends told me.
The food here was definitely better than what we had for
brunch. But the friends whom we met up with
(that were friends of Ian and Clemence) had already somewhat eaten before meeting us, so we ended up over ordering like crazy. Oh well, better to have more food than to have not enough, am I right? Ha-ha. Singapore's
Sambal Stingray trashes the one over at Petaling Jaya hands down. My favourite dishes are probably the
Shrimp Dumplings,
Prawn Mee and
Claypot Rice. Mmmm, just thinking about them now is making me salivate.
Malaysian Hor Fun
Kway Teow Soup, Prawn Mee and Shrimp Dumplings
Malaysian-style Dry Ban Mian (looks like Mee Pok, LOL)
Claypot Rice
Sambal Squid
Sambal Stingray

The Next Day...
Headed over again the next day with Gerald, Harris and Daryl, but the stall that I ate at the night before wasn't open. Hence, we settled for the one next to it and I must say, it was damn good as well. There were less variety, but the
Char Siew and
Wanton Noodles that we had were '
bagus'. Okay, I may be exaggerating a little here because I know a lot of people take their Char Siew
really seriously. But just to clarify, I'm comparing the ones I had there to the ones we get in Singapore and let's face it, we all know how lousy most of the local Char Siews are, ha-ha. So in a way, I'm quite easily satisfied and impressed with Char Siews from HK and KL xD
Alright, I guess this wraps up my second KL entry. Do stay tune for more and in the mean time, stay gold.
XOXO, T.

#58 KL Food Fare (Yut Kee)
Tuesday, 3 September 2013
Similar to my entries about my Hong Kong trip last year, I've decided to do my updates about my recent KL trip in parts as well. So here's part one of my KL trip, brunch at the recommended
Yut Kee Restaurant. Ian read a review about the place on
ladyironchef's 10 Things To Eat In Kuala Lumpur entry. To be honest, it wasn't all that fantastic. The food was pretty '
meh' and it definitely wasn't as cheap as I had anticipated. I'd say the best dish was probably the noodles.
(In order of appearance) The Chicken Chop, Roti Babi, Roast Pork and Kaya Toast were all, to me, disappointing. Overall, I wouldn't say that this place is a
must to visit, but if you happen to chance upon, it won't hurt to go in for a meal.
XOXO, T.
