#154 Summertime Sadness
Saturday, 12 April 2014

It's 1:51pm on a Saturday as I'm churning out this entry. I'm still under the weather since Monday, I'm suspecting Exam Fever. I'm relatively miserable right now because I'm super stressed for my 3 back to back papers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. But, I just keep telling myself that I only have to get through the next four days and everything will get better. Am STILL waiting to hear about my internship for summer, but things seem quite promising with a particular firm that I'm very interested in joining. I hope all the pieces just falls perfectly together. Then, my summer will be complete and I can be less stressed out for the next couple of weeks. My nose is starting to run again and I need to eat my lunch soon so I can go back to mugging. Pretty pointless entry, just an excuse for me to pose a gratuitous picture of myself and whine/rant a little. Okay, pray that I survive the next four days, thanks and lots of love.

XOXO, T.

New pair of Birkenstock sandals that I bought for myself recently. Have been on somewhat of a shopping spree of late; case in point - in addition to the sandals, I also bought a pair of burgundy leather loafers from Topman. I've been eyeing the pair at Leftfoot since FOREVER and when I saw a cheaper alternative at Topman, I just HAD to get it. PLUS, it was the last pair in my size AND I had an additional 20% discount since it was my birthday month (and yours truly is a member of course). I didn't get as good a deal for the Birkenstock though, ha-ha. But I bought it anyway since I left my old pair in Las Vegas.

Can't believe the semester is drawing to a close in just a couple of weeks time. I know I've ranted about this countless times, but I still haven't gotten any replies regarding my internships. Sighs, not even call ups for interviews. I'm getting quite affected by it. Hopefully I get a call from one of the agencies I applied to soon. *crosses fingers*

XOXO, T.

I am beyond stressed out right now. It's 0130H in the morning and I'm blogging, which can only mean one thing: I am procrastinating. Mid-terms are happening this week, in 2 days to be precise. And I have yet to study, surprise surprise. I am such an epic failure at mugging, it's not even funny. I had originally planned to start mugging some time last week. By wouldn't you know it, I managed to put it off till now. Am stress eating like crazy, which stresses me out even more because I am aware that I am doing it. Talk about a catch-22 situation. Shall do my best to STOP stress eating and do some actual studying tomorrow. I MUST!

Anyway, I'm not going to fill this entry with insignificant rants about my flailing academic life. Here's some random pictures I took just now whilst accompanying Daryl to shop for knick knacks for his upcoming birthday party. I was under the impression that we'd be buying tons of blue-related decor for his party, but we ended up only buying coloured paper napkins. LOL. Still, it was a fun night, traipsing around IKEA, looking for photo opportunities, checking people out and finally stuffing our faces with a second round of dinner before heading back home to procrastinate some more.

I'd say that I can't wait for recess week to be here, but sadly for me, my recess week has already been filled to the brim with meetings and school-related commitments. I'll just look forward to the weekends instead.

XOXO, T.

#131 Boomarang Bistro & Bar
Monday, 27 January 2014

This place definitely wasn't our first choice of brunch location on Saturday. After our morning class, Coco and I had planned on going to The Fabulous Baker Boy. Oh goodness, I am completely hopeless with Google Maps. After spending close to 20 minutes in the sweltering heat, stomping around trying to follow instructions, we ended up hoping in a cab to avoid further aimless wandering. Much to our horror and dismay (more of the former), the cafe is closed for renovations till March. RAGE.

I suggested Boomarang Bistro & Bar instead. I read about it on Lady Iron Chef's blog before and the place was also somewhere in the vicinity. We both decided to order the Smoked Salmon Brioche with Poached Eggs (accompanied with Tomato Salsa, Peppercorn Cream Cheese & Hollandaise Sauce) and I've honestly got to say, this was one of the worst poached eggs I've ever had. The yolk was cooked all the way through and it's the first time I've had hollandaise sauce served in the same consistency as mayonnaise. The brioche tasted like no other brioche I've tasted before and the only redeeming thing about this dish was the tomato salsa. Wouldn't recommend anyone going to this place and if you do go, order something else besides what we got. On the plus side, at least the meal photographs well?

Scouted around the place briefly after our meal in search for a nice backdrop to take an OOTD photo, ha-ha. Here's me in a semi-candid moment, trying to take photos of random architecture. Didn't have as much time as I would have liked to explore the place more because I had to rush home to get ready for a birthday party later on that evening. Still, I guess there's always another time when I can go back to take more photos, LOL. A friend recommended another cafe, Anthesis, that's around the area and I want to give it a try one day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Drink up and get enough rest! People around seem to be falling ill and we all want to stay healthy to enjoy CNY right? Been chugging lots of cooling tea, ha-ha.

XOXO, T.

#66 Suit Up
Wednesday, 18 September 2013

LOL, okay, I know I kind of went overboard with the cam-whoring. But, I figured that I'm hardly ever in formal wear anyway, so might as well take a couple of photos after taking my main head shot for my Finishing Touch workshop.
OMG, I hope I never have to wear a blazer for work or anything actually, it's too hot in Singapore for such office/formal attire. I had to blast the air conditioning in my room to stop my body from breaking out in sweat every 30 seconds. That said, I do REALLY like how the photos turned out, ha-ha. And all this in one lazy Saturday afternoon :) I'm not particularly crazy about the last picture, which is actually the one that I need for my workshop. We were instructed to take a profile picture for our LinkedIn profile and our resume, so yeah, there I am looking like some property/insurance agent waiting to sell you something, ha-ha.

XOXO, T.

#42 SAF Seaview Resort
Saturday, 1 June 2013

OMG, I can't believe I'll be flying off in a few hours! I've just a bit of time to squeeze in one last entry in SG before I'll officially be posting from North America for the next 7 weeks :D In case you're wondering what the point of the above picture is, it is to illustrate the HELL I went through yesterday before the BBQ at SAF Seaview Resort. This (pictured above) is a Golden Lion Tamarin.
So I had a hair appointment yesterday to cut and colour my hair once more before leaving. I don't know what was the conversation that conspired between my hair dresser and I, but I ended up with hair that was a similar shade to the fur of this monkey. MEGA CRISIS.
I rushed all the way home, rushed all the way to the nearby provision shop PRAYING that they sold hair dye, but all I managed to find was Henna Powder Dye. With no other options left, I decided to give the powder dye a shot. I've read about typicalben using it before and the results seemed okay. Plus, it's only S$4.50.
Thank god the colour turned out nicely. Just be sure to add water a bit at a time to the powder dye. The lousy instructions didn't specify how much water to put so I added a bit too much the first time. Ended up having to use two sachets even though my hair is already so short.

Anyway, with the crisis averted, I was finally calm enough to get ready to head on over to the chalet and meet up with the boys. I'm not even kidding when I say I was in complete panic mode throughout the entire afternoon. I imagined going on exchange and taking photos with that hideous hair colour and I nearly cried. #dramaqueen
The chalet was fun! There was SOOOO much food, we definitely over did it with the grocery shopping at Giant. As always, I was completely useless when it came down to preparing and barbecuing the food. I just floated around the place, helping clear rubbish, take things out of stuff and chattered non-stop. I'm glad we had this gathering before I leave. 7 weeks, though not a big deal for most, is a huge deal for me. I miss my friends from just after a week of not meeting up, LOL, seriously. Anyway, I'm going to check my luggage one last time before heading to the airport.
SEE YOU GUYS IN CANADA!

XOXO, T.
